I finally got around to taking Dustin and Ciera’s family photos! So glad we did, I love how they came out and it’s so fun to have nice shots with baby E. still being so tiny. It’s funny how easy it is to forget once they get bigger! The first one is my personal favorite.

I don’t even know where to start! I guess I will be playing a lot of catch up. What else is new? For now, we are here…and alive. And here is the proof! And after this little project I remembered why I hardly ever take portraits of my own kids! Thank heavens for Ciera who was there to help and keep me from having a nervous breakdown and throwing them all in the lake! Is this not the most adorable family ever? Twinkie boys – and they are chunky….I love it! We had a lot of fun but it was later at night and there were mosquitoes EVERYWHERE. We tried to shoot quickly because those babies (and the adult babies…) were being eaten alive! they were great sports!

So, eons ago ;) my friend Linda was kind enough to have me take some pictures of her in her current pregnant state! It was so fun and I was lucky enough to have another photographer, my sister in law Ciera there to help with hair and clothes and all of the other things that go in to a great shoot! It was a lot of fun and I did a little playing around with the sun in quite a few of the shots which is always a blast! Here are a few of my favorites!

Linda is a dancer and we were so impressed that she could still get up on those toes! You can’t see it in this photo – sorry…just thought the tummy was too cute!

And the above is proof that it was still possible! Impressive!

Okay so normally I would not ask for this kind of thing from all of my friends and the clients I have worked with, however this is huge! I have been studying a lot lately and came upon this blog a couple of months ago, and it’s amazing. This couple has a great story and they are a team that do mostly weddings and their work is insanely gorgeous. I have some of their DVDs as well and it has totally changed the way I take pictures. They are doing a workshop in Seattle, and I have read so much about these things. They basically teach you everything they know. It could really make a huge difference for my work!

There is no way that I can afford the tuition for this workshop (it’s 1000.00 to attend…) But every workshop they do a “running on empty” contest where people can go to the blog here and nominate someone they feel deserves to go for free!!!!! I would just DIE … seriously.

So this once I am asking a huge favor of you all. If you have time, and you liked the photos I have taken for you, or you just like me :) you can nominate me in the comment section of merakohblog.com. I was a little frustrated with how the photos from my spring special came out only because there were so many families (for which I cannot be honored and grateful enough) and I am new and still learning, and we did so many in each day that the lighting conditions were not the best. I know that early morning or later evening are best but we were dealing with a time line for Easter and baby chicks, and rain…oh the drama! Anyway – I am finding the silver lining and realizing that I am loving some of them in black and white. So Cat, I hope you like these. You are such a patient friend!

My friend *T* amazes me! Look at these four adorable kiddos. In the almost 3 years that I have known her, her Husband has been overseas pretty much the ENTIRE time! She is organized, sweet, and always smiling. Looking through everybody’s photos these past few weeks I realized how many incredible Moms I know. I feel blessed to have so many friends that I can learn so much from! I hope Dad likes these photos and that they help him remember all these cute faces who are supporting him from home!

This Family was so fun! The cutie little princess there on the left (I do know her name but I try not to publish those if I can – paranoid parent that I am!) is hilarious. She is so confident and knows what she wants – hmmm I wonder why I like that??? Her sweet brother was not loving the camera so much, he had been sick the night before and so this was probably not what he would have picked to do that morning! All in all I thought they came out cute!

Ok so you are well aware of my obsession with this kind of shot, but does this look like the stance of a big sister in charge or what? I couldn’t resist!

We lucked out a little this time because I was able to get a few of the extras that I thought came out ok, and I felt so bad for that sweet little boy and because he didn’t feel good he wasn’t so smiley – so I thought I would add these as well. I love the last one, we moms just know when our babies have had it and need a little extra attention! It didn’t play out as well in color, but I love it in black and white. PS if I was ever able to sit in a swing and hold my little guy – while I was 6 months pregnant…. I would be dancing in the streets! You look great mom!

How cute are these boys? They were so nice and polite too. And it was big brothers birthday the day of the shoot as well – being that getting pictures taken is not usually a favorite thing for teenage boys, I was surprised that he was so happy and sweet!

Ask anyone who knows me…I’m not great at self discipline. I am having such a hard time keeping it to 5 photos! I can’t believe I didn’t stick these two sweet girls in my car and bring them home! This first pictures makes me want to sing that Brite song - “she’s my sister” …she’s about this high, she’s taller than I, sometimes she helps me tie my shoes….she’s my sister(in perfect pitch of course!) okay I’m done. Another adorable spring special session! I am having the hardest time deciding weather I like these better in black and white or full color – these kiddos just look amazing in black and white! Something about dark hair and perfect skin… or light hair and perfect skin – maybe its just the perfect skin part, sheesh what would that be like?

Okay so obviously not a fancy shot, but his expression cracked me up!

I do not know what it is with me and kid feet! I don’t even usually like feet – in fact, grown up feet pretty much gross me out but cute little feet are pretty- and that is all there is to it!

This little “chicky chicky” (as Brinlee calls them) and I are sooooooooooooo excited for Saturday’s shoot! Hopefully the weather cooperates and we will have a beautiful day of pictures! Light sprinkling is ok, but if by some horrible chance we get a torrential down pour, my camera will jump out of my hands and run for it’s bag and refuse to come out! If that happens, I will notify you as soon as possible. BUT… that is not going to happen! So without further discussion on that nasty matter, here are the directions to the shoot location.

Coming from Deception Pass:

follow Hwy 20 across the bridge. About a mile past the bridge you will see on your right hand side a cute little yellow house (surrounded by a large fence). Turn right into the driveway( it sneaks up on you so drive slowly!) Curve around to the right!

I have decided that it is really hard to take pictures of my own naughty kids. They are not fans of the camera. After dropping one off at the bus I took the other two out to take some pictures and what stinkers they were - the princess won't even look my direction if I have the camera so I bribed Kaden...judge if you will but I though this came out pretty good!
